Attic Insulation Warwick. Energy Geeks performed a blower door test to measure the extent of leaks in the thermal envelope of this Warwick, Rhode Island home. The purpose of the thermal envelope is to prevent heat transfer from the interior of a house to its exterior in winter and vice versa in summer. Infrared cameras, which reveal hard-to-detect areas of air infiltration and missing insulation, were also used.
The inconsistent distribution of insulation along with the lack of air sealing, had the residents of this home feeling winded. The technicians from Energy Geeks were able to remedy this in one day. They sealed all of the gaps and penetrations and topped the entire attic off with an additional 12” layer of energy saving cellulose insulation.
