What is the EnergyWise Program?

By: Ed Beauchemin

EnergyWise Program RI - National GridThe EnergyWise Program serving Rhode Island offers a no-cost in-home energy assessment to evaluate your homes energy efficiency. During the assessment an energy specialist will evaluate your energy use and look at things such as air leakage, insulation, ventilation, exterior doors, heating systems, hot water systems and more. A summary of recommendations will be presented at the end of the assessment. Homeowners may also receive no cost LED bulbs during the energy assessment for instant energy savings as well as a power strip. Qualifying homeowners may also receive programmable thermostats.

EnergyWise rebates up to 75% to an annual maximum of $4000.00 depending on your heating fuel type (oil, gas or electric) are available to qualifying homeowners. Rebates can be used to cover most of the cost of air sealing, insulation, ventilation and other upgrades.

0% financing to pay for qualifying energy upgrades (the balance not covered by rebates) is available to those who qualify.

The EnergyWise program is funded by an Energy Efficiency Charge on all customer utility bills as per Rhode Island General Law.
